We know that Konami has been cranking out all sorts of retro goodness as of late, including collections based on Castlevania, Contra and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But they’re also paying attention to franchises they don’t touch that much, like Silent Hill 2, which will see a remake on PS5 and PC later this year.
But what about Metal Gear? Well, we’ve heard off and on that Konami has some projects in the works, but they’ve been rumors at best. However, the voice actor behind the classic Raiden character, Quinton Flynn, just threw some gasoline on the fire yet again.
In a response tweet, Flynn noted that something’s in the works at Konami. When a fan asked him, “Perhaps a Metal Gear Rising 2 along with the rest of the upcoming Metal Gear showcase just might make it?”, he didn’t stay silent. Instead, he replied, “Stayed tuned for things to be announced in the coming weeks.” What’s more, the tweet is still up, at least based on this reporter’s time.
That’s…interesting. Not only is there talks about the Metal Gear remake people have wanted badly (since the GameCube days of The Twin Snakes), but now it appears that Platinum Games’ much-enjoyed Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance could be part of that party. Then again, maybe Flynn’s just having fun with us. Still, his tweet does certainly leave a lot to think about. I mean, I would totally play Revengeance again powered on the PS5. Or a sequel!
We’ll see what unfolds in the weeks ahead! In the meantime, enjoy the classic Revengeance trailer below!
