Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is easily one of the best values in gaming right now. For only $15 a month, players can get their hands on a number of titles (over 100!), as well as online play functionality, a variety of EA Play titles, and other cool little things.
But what’s great about it is that it’s rife with possibilities when it comes to discovering new indie favorites. Sure, anyone can jump into Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 and have a good time, but what about the forgotten titles you may not have known about?
Here’s a rundown of five games you should check out on the service. Because you never know when they might leave, so it wouldn’t hurt to give them a go. Who knows, you might just become addicted!
Battletoads (2019)
OK, so it’s not the original NES (though that is available through Rare Replay). However, the 2019 take on Battletoads is an entertaining brawler, from the team at Dlala Studios. It’s wonderfully animated, a real joy in co-op, and filled with a lot of gut-busting laughs, especially for fans of the original. Plus there’s a jet-bike stage that you can finally – and mercifully – beat this time. Give the ‘toads a try!
Alice: Madness Returns
EA Play has some awesome games available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, including Battlefield 2042. However, we’re going to recommend a long-lost Xbox 360 favorite that’s available via backward compatibility Madness Returns is a terrific take on the Alice In Wonderland saga, but with a much darker flavor and a lot of intense, bloody action. Not to mention how absolutely stylish it is. Well worth the play.
ReCore: Definitive Edition
Some people weren’t too crazy about ReCore when it initially released for Xbox One a few years back. However, we think it’s well worth the rediscovery, if only because of its imaginative theme and fun gameplay. You’re basically taking on a dangerous world, with a robot ally by your side, and using whatever tools of the trade can help you along. This one’s more fun than you might expect, but that’s the development prowess of Armature Studios for you.
Slay the Spire
Anyone who loves a good card game are in for a real treat with Slay the Spire. This fascinating title has all sorts of battle tactics that you can embrace, as well as hours of challenging gameplay and new secrets to find. Not to mention how well done its presentation is. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself playing this one well into the night – and maybe the next morning.
Sunset Overdrive
Insomniac Games may be part of Sony’s family now, but at one point in time, the talented studio teamed up with Microsoft to make the wildly insane Sunset Overdrive. You portray a survivor of a sweeping plague made up of…a controversial energy drink? Whatever, this opens the door to using all sorts of crazy weapons against the baddies, all while using a traversal system that’s revolutionary in its own right. This city’s well worth a visit, in spite of the chaos.
Want a new Xbox console to play these great games on? What luck, we can help with that thanks to our giveaway!
